Stories

Every woman and every girl inspires us. We are deeply grateful to those who have shared their stories about breakthroughs in their lives, the ways in which they have overcome fears, beliefs, or events that once kept them from connecting with their inner strength and recognizing their amazingness. Some of these stories are stories of pain and how a women or girl triumphed over it. As you read these stories, rather than focusing on the pain, choose to focus instead on the triumph and the ways that others have overcome what may once have seemed impossible to overcome. Let's celebrate their triumphs!

Why I run

Growing up I never thought of myself as sporty or athletic– that was my sister. She was coordinated, aggressive and an all-star athlete like my dad. I considered myself to be uncoordinated and timid so I simply didn’t try. I was...

Learning Not to Quit

I posted a video last night of an overexuberant set of coaches cheering on a girl for finishing a practice 5K in our Girls on the Run program. I am sure that some of you shook your heads and thought…what’s the big deal? It’s...

I miss my aunt

I had an aunt with inner talent but never showed it. She actually baked cakes for a living and they were so delicious. Other than that she also cooked for us. She got married and soon had had children. Her first born child was named victory and...
