Stories

Every woman and every girl inspires us. We are deeply grateful to those who have shared their stories about breakthroughs in their lives, the ways in which they have overcome fears, beliefs, or events that once kept them from connecting with their inner strength and recognizing their amazingness. Some of these stories are stories of pain and how a women or girl triumphed over it. As you read these stories, rather than focusing on the pain, choose to focus instead on the triumph and the ways that others have overcome what may once have seemed impossible to overcome. Let's celebrate their triumphs!

Big Smiles

As a “senior” volunteer with Girls on the Run, I have truly enjoyed my job guiding on the course and cheering on the participants. The culminating activity run is fabulous !! It is remarkable to watch the girls do their best and...

Vital to Our Young Girls

I am not a young girl, coach, or teacher. I am a fond supporter of GOTR. I went to an awards breakfast where our local chapter was receiving a small grant, and heard Gillian Byerly tell a story about a local girl in the program. Gilly tells...

GOTR changed my life

I started my journey at Girls on the Run with the Central Kentucky Council in 2017. I was 19 and I was trying to find my way through my college years. At the time, I was living in a house with seven roommates, balancing my school work with my...
