Much stronger than I thought

I was in GOTR during my 5th-grade year (2009/2010) of elementary school in Charlotte, NC. It was the first time I had a sense of community, especially being a Black girl unknowingly facing much discrimination and oppression in school. It taught me so much about my physical health and mental health. I realized that I was much stronger than I thought and I owe that all to GOTR. I grew much closer to my group, my father (who ran with me), and my 5th-grade math teacher Ms.Alessi. The group really became a central part of my last year of elementary school and discovering myself.
