I remember standing there, waiting for her to cross the finish line. I had no idea who the girl was but our eyes connected as she got closer to me. That look of despair, exhaustion and pride beamed across her face as she crossed the finish line. It was like a title wave of emotions came over the both of us!
I remember what is was like being a little girl and trying really hard to finish something. I remember when I realized that I was a better runner than most girls my age and want that did for my spirit. In that moment, on that very hot day it was as if I had been taken back to that time and I felt everything that little girl felt as she crossed the finish line. It was in that moment that I fell in love with this organization and knew I needed to be a part of it.
