Dedication: I’m dedicating this to women around the world who are struggling and who do not have it in them this year to smile and sing and dance and whistle. My wish is for you to receive the blessings of someone else’s positive energy. .
As Christmas approaches I try to mindfully slow down and enjoy being in the moment. I love Christmas; the family time, the food, the chaos of chatter and laughter and realizing how blessed I am to be a part of a great big French Canadian family.
I was grocery shopping a few days ago & softly whistling a Christmas carol to myself while being lost in my grocery list. A woman came up to me with a smile on her face & tears in her eyes. She touched my arm, thanked me for the music and told me how beautiful it was.
I was truly touched and thanked her for telling me. It made me realize that sometimes, just being you is the best gift you can give not only to your friends and family but especially to strangers that come your way.
I’ve been thinking of this woman for the last few days and I wonder what it is that touched her so much…. I think I was whistling Silent Night, but frankly, I don’t remember… I was just being me…. Either way, whatever it was that touched her belonged to her and I’m so happy to have made her smile.
Never underestimate the power of being you in the world. Many wonder, especially this time of year, what they can do for others. I say : Smile, hum a song or sing it, do a few dance steps or yes, just whistle. The magic that is you can leave a sprinkle of hope, joy and smiles for everyone around you.
Merry Christmas! Joyeux Noël!
