When I became an aunt to my incredible and outgoing niece, I knew I wanted to make a difference in her life. Weather it be through running, or being a role model, I knew I wanted to give that to all young girls. Because growing up, I never saw athletes who looked like me so running or sports was never a thought. Being an aunt, I knew I wanted to give back to all girls in my community through coaching. It was an incredible opportunity to help girls see the strength within themselves, to help teach them courage and confidence. It starts with running a 5k, and once they can do that, they can set their goals and won’t be afraid to reach them. There’s really a limitless potential I see in them, and it brings me such gratitude to be part of that.
