‘It’s a wonderful life after all’ such a refreshing saying to hear no? If only it were true… At each point of our lives, right from the Palaeolithic Age till now we have fought, before for food and shelter, now for freedom of our minds and heart. Humans have really aged like fine wine I must say, but we have lost the point of life through all this. We live not because we want to but because we can, we die not because we want to but because WE CAN. Sounds like we have some superpower of Control doesn’t it? ha! gotcha, god must’ve said, we have none. We are meant to live and die as commonly as the river flows and the earth rotates, it is no big deal you know? But because of this illusion of control we have developed overtime, through evolution or industrialisation, we mess it up, we make mistakes, hurt the ones we never meant to, break hearts which we wanted to mend, run away from things we really want, just either give too much or nothing at all. According to me, the secret of life is to really just find the balance and keep maintaining it, through all the breaths you take, that’s it, that’s the purpose of it all. Live to YOUR fullest even if it’s having a cup of tea while watching the sunset, live it! Freedom is subjective nowadays, for some it may mean wear the clothes you want, for some it means love who you want, for some it just might mean to be able to live life and gain experiences on their OWN terms even if they falter and fall, it should be theirs and theirs only. It’s YOUR life after all, live it as you wish, But many say society, many say learnings from elders, mannerisms, structure, form, religion, responsibilities, long term plans, retirement, making a difference….Shh.. so much chaos, but tell me, when you are gone from the world what will you truly take? what truly was in your hands? was it the money you had saved for years to live comfortably when old but now you don’t exist in that future you had imagined? was it the religious customs and rights you thank yourself for following? was it the undying satisfaction of oh, I did what I could for my family, when you always could keep doing more? or will it be the experiences and memories you fully and I mean completely with all your heart cherished and LIVED? I am sharing what I am learning along my journey, Do what you want to when you see the opportunity, don’t wait for another to come, you might not have the chance again, you never know. The more memories you leave on tomorrow’s version of you to enjoy the more you miss out on TODAY. Don’t postpone phone calls which were meant to be made long back just to say hello.. don’t wait for things to get better or easier to just say I LOVE YOU to the one you do, don’t wait for opportunities to come either, build them yourself or at least try? work towards YOU before instructing others. It’s high time you take a stand for YOURSELF and yourself ONLY. This is me taking a small step towards My Turn, hope you do too..
