My name is Lasaunia Thompson. I lived with a disease for 7 years that didn’t have a name. It came out of nowhere and was extremely painful. It came with painful wounds that would take well over a year to heal. It was so painful that my 100% cotton sheets couldn’t touch my skin.
Despite going through various medical procedures, office visits, tests, and emergency room visits, I was told time and time again by doctors that I was a mystery. I would say no, my name is Lasaunia. I am not a mystery. What I have is a mystery.
One day, I prayed and told God that if you chose me to be the vessel to carry this disease, then you have to give me some peace to deal with it.
I started affirming myself and changed my thoughts and perspective on how I saw my wounds and this disease.
I started journaling and waiting for God to guide me on what’s next.
In January 2021, I was diagnosed with a rare disease called Pyoderma Gangrenosum. PG is a rare condition that causes large, painful sores (ulcers) to develop on your skin, most often on your legs .
My rheumatologist prescribed some medications that helped me to start living a great quality of life.
I encourage any who is going through difficult times to trust in God, write down your thoughts, and extend yourself some grace. I believe victory is possible for everyone.
I share my story as a testimony to help others see that there truly is victory on the other side of through.

Lasaunia "So" Thompson
Lasaunia So Thompson is a native Washingtonian where she attended and graduated from DC Public Schools. She later earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Trinity University in Washington DC. She has practiced as a license cosmetologist for more than 33 years, enhancing women's hair care and beauty. Throughout her professional career she has worked in education, disaster relief, hair care, mental health and wellness services. She's provided support to individuals and families to enhance their access and capabilities to function and thrive to the best of their abilities.
Since 2012, Ms. Thompson has been employed as a licensed cosmetologist at Saint Elizabeths Hospital, the District of Columbia’s public psychiatric facility for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness. She provides hair care services to male and female patients that are customized for the needs of each individual in care in support of Saint Elizabeths goal to help improve patient’s self-esteem, confidence and overall appearance. In the pass she’s instructed 2 classes for female patients, “A Time for Us” and “Women and Wellness”. These classes were designed to support female individuals’ ability to provide self-care in the areas of personal hygiene, appearance and establishing consistent regiments to maintain personal health and wellness.
In August, 2023 she became a certified Abundance Coach. Ms. Thompson's goal is to help clients change their way of thinking by having one conversation at a time.
She provides tools, tips and encouragement to start living with an abundant mindset that brings peace, ease, health, wealth, and fulfillment in their life.
Throughout her careers she has become passionate about helping women to overcome obstacles and develop to their greatest potential, allowing them to be self-sufficient and successful in their lives. Her life's journey has led her to establish SoBeIt. SoBeIt aims to assist women in accomplishing their personal and professional goals by providing comprehensive services.
