There Was A Moment When I Was Tired Of Trying To Understand Everything.
I Had Questions.
I Had Emotions.
I Had Things I Couldn’t Explain.
And Honestly, I Was Frustrated With God.
So I Did What I’ve Always Done.
I Talked To Him.
Except This Time, I Wasn’t Being All Polite And Churchy About It. 😂
I Was Hurt.
I Was Confused.
And I Wanted An Answer.
I Asked God For A Sign.
I Asked Him To Send Me A Rainbow To Let Me Know He Was With Me.
I Didn’t Know What That Moment Was Going To Look Like.
I Didn’t Know When It Would Happen.
I Just Asked.
Then Came The Rainbow. 🌈
And I Just Sat There Like…
“Okay, God. I See You.”
It Wasn’t About Me Suddenly Having Every Answer.
It Wasn’t About The Rainbow Proving Every Question I Had Was Right.
It Was About What That Moment Meant To Me.
For A Little While, I Felt Like God Was Reminding Me, “You’re Still Here.”
After Everything I Had Been Through.
After The Loss.
After The Confusion.
After The Questions.
After The Moments When I Didn’t Know What Was Coming Next.
I Was Still Here.
And Maybe That Was The Part I Needed To Remember.
Sometimes We Ask God For A Sign Because We Want Him To Explain The Whole Story.
But Sometimes The Answer Is Simply Enough To Help Us Take The Next Step.
The Rainbow Didn’t Give Me Every Answer.
It Gave Me A Moment Of Hope.
And Hope Is Sometimes What You Need When You’re Standing In The Middle Of A Story That Still Doesn’t Make Sense.
I Think About Mariah.
I Think About My Family.
I Think About Everything I’ve Lost.
I Think About Everything I’m Still Hoping For.
And I Realize That Grief And Hope Can Exist In The Same Heart.
You Can Miss Somebody And Still Smile.
You Can Cry And Still Believe.
You Can Be Confused And Still Pray.
You Can Be Angry With God And Still Talk To Him.
You Can Ask Questions And Still Have Faith.
And Sometimes, Right In The Middle Of All Of That, You Look Up And See A Rainbow.
Not As A Promise That Everything Will Happen Exactly The Way You Imagined It.
But As A Reminder That The Story Isn’t Over.
So I Took A Picture.
I Remembered The Moment.
And I Kept Going.
Because Maybe The Rainbow Wasn’t The End Of The Story.
Maybe It Was Just A Reminder To Keep Turning The Page. 🌈
