Host a Storytelling Gathering
We believe in the power of stories.
SayItForward.org was created to encourage and support women and girls in recognizing the power of their stories. We believe that sharing stories of personal triumph is more than reflection—it is an act of self-empowerment. When one woman or girl shares her story, it creates a ripple effect, offering hope and inspiration to others navigating fear, insecurity, or cultural expectations. Stories have the power to encourage, heal, and change lives.
Reflecting on our stories, owning our stories, and sharing our stories are powerful tools of self-empowerment.
When one woman shares her story, it creates a ripple — offering hope and inspiration to others.
How can you encourage other women to share some of their stories?
You probably listen to many stories that your friends and family members share. We have another idea you might want to try-– hosting your own Storytelling Gathering.
These gatherings are designed to bring friends together in a safe, informal setting where they can explore the importance of their own storytelling. Together, participants are invited to reflect on the key moments of their lives, begin sharing their stories with one another, and spend time writing or rewriting their stories.
To support you, we’ve created a downloadable SayItForward.org Storytelling Gathering Hosting Guide, which includes:
Our hope is that this gathering will feel meaningful, empowering, and encouraging—a space where women and girls feel inspired to own their stories and share them with one another.
If you’re interested in hosting a Storytelling Gathering, please fill out the form below. We will email you the Storytelling Gathering Hosting Guide.
Thank you and we hope you will have a wonderful gathering.

No. There are no funds involved. SayItForward.org provides the content and guidance—you provide the space and heart.
An informal setting simply means a space you choose and feel is safe—such as a home or community space. This is not meant to be a big production or a source of stress. There’s no need to rent a venue. Food and drinks are optional and entirely up to you.
A safe space is one where every woman or girl feels free to share—or not share—without fear of judgment or discrimination. It’s a space marked by empathy, respect, and vulnerability. SayItForward.org will provide suggested Ground Rules to help cultivate this environment.
No. SayItForward.org will provide a suggested flow for the gathering, but you are encouraged to make it your own. The prompts are simply guides to help participants reflect on their stories—there are no rules for how stories should be written or shared.
While the primary goal is for women and girls to explore the power of their stories, we encourage you to share the mission and vision of SayItForward.org so guests can explore the platform on their own. Sharing stories on the site is welcomed, but never required.
We’re happy to offer guidance and support. That said, we want your gathering to reflect you, so you have the freedom to shape it in a way that feels authentic and personal.
There’s no required or ideal number. Invite as many—or as few—people as feels comfortable for you.
We recommend having pens or pencils and paper available for reflection or writing. Food and drinks are optional and entirely at your discretion.
No, this gathering doesn’t have to be in person if you aren’t able to host in person. You are more than welcome to host an online gathering. We want this to be tailored to your schedule and ability.
